Is there a way to get The Economist in digital format since is not available on Flipster? Thanks in advance, Zeljko 37 7.8.2019 You can read The Economist in digital format in the National Library of Finland. The library's address is Unioninkatu 36 and it is open for everyone.  You need a temporarily ID, which entitles you to use the e-materials in the library. You can get the IDs from the library's customer service. The customer service is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are no customer workstations in the library and you have to use your own laptop. Please, take your id-card with you.

This is why the Finnish libraries are not allowed to lend out donated movies. Many libraries have a place for recycling books, records and movies. Can we request that printed books be made available in eBook form? If so, how? 68 9.4.2019 In an ideal world this would be a fine possibility, but in the real world it is just the publisher, who can decide to offer an e-book version to the general market or just the libraries. The copyright legislation does not allow the libraries to purchase rights to e-books as it allows buying and lending out the printed material. In Finland the publishers do not necessarily want the lbrary system to provide free access to e-books, which can be sold directly to consumers. That is why the selection to libraries is not the same as to individual consumers. In the end it is the question of money. The publishers sell e-book rights to libraries, if they are willing and able to pay high enough prices. The market of e-books in Finland has not grown…

The problem for you here might be that all library materials, objects included, are catalogued in the Helmet database in Finnish. If you use the Helmet search for finding objects, choose Advanced search, type * (i.e. one asterisk, meaning "all") in the search field, and choose "Object" from the dropdown menu for Format. When is this book going to be available? Kata 98 27.2.2019 If you look at the information under COPIES ON ORDER, there is the line " 1 copy ordered for Myyrmäki aik on 01-10-2018." The book has been ordered already in October 2018, but for some reason - usually unknown to the library - the seller has not been able to provide us with a copy. Unfortunately this is not a rare situation, many items are late, out of print or totally cancelled. Let's hope this one is another case. I'm interested to learn about the… 69 21.2.2019 I suggest you visit a public library in Helsinki and search in HS Aikakone HS Aikakone contains articles published in Helsingin Sanomat newspaper from years 1904-1997. Unfortunately the user interface is only in Finnish but I am sure you can get some help from the library staff. HS Aikakone can only be used in the library premises unless you have an own subscription of HS Digi.

It's possible to buy the DVD in some webshops. You find the online stores easily by using Google.
Is there any library where I can rent ice skates? 159 11.2.2019 You can borrow skates in some libraries in Helsinki and Espoo. You find those libraries if you make in Helmet a search by the word luistimet and the refine the search result by format object. In Helsinki there are skates in Pukinmäki, Herttoniemi, Jakomäki, Tapulikaupunki and Vuosaari Libraries. It is not possible to reserve the skates, so You can check the availability in Helmet.
