Hi!
Hope you're doing well:)
I've moved to Finland about a year and a half ago and I've been actively trying to find Finnish films with English subtitles, but it's been very tricky and most of the time I didn't have any luck. I have discussed this with my Finnish colleagues as well and they also haven't been able to help me with this. So I thought maybe I could ask for some guidance here.
Please let me know what you think

There are a number of Finnish films with English subtitles available in DVD and Blu-ray formats. Many of these are included in the Helmet libraries collection. Below you can find a sample of these films from different genres and eras. You can browse for more here.
Back to the USSR - Takaisin ryssiin
Kanelia kainaloon, Tatu ja Patu!
Tuntematon sotilas (1955) and (1985)
Täällä Pohjantähden alla (2010), II (2011)
Some independent productions can be found on streaming services with English subtitles. For example, here is a very short list of indie films available on YouTube.

This list reminds me of what Peter von Bagh once said. He'd been invited to Japan, and asked which particular films he wanted to see during his visit. He told his hosts, to their great surprise, that he wants to see as many _mediocre_ films as possible. He had to explain that he wanted to learn to "read" Japanese films before watching any ofthe best of the best. (You find Peter in wikipedia and many other sites.)
There are many films I would like to recommend to foreigners -- if they had subtitles in English, that is -- but if you want to learn about Finnish culture and Finn's attitudes, you do indeed need to see a lot of mediocre material.
