I would like to know about the origin of the English language. 1045 You will find lots of good web pages about the origin of the English language simply by using the search terms "english language history" in any internet search engine. E.g. here is one thorough article on the subject: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_English_language If you would like to get more personalized answers to your question, I would suggest for you to turn to some "Ask a librarian" service in any English-speaking country. We Finns might not be the best possible specialists of the English language.
My kids(2.8y and 1.3y) and I are traveling to Helsinki during May 2-9. I am wondering if there is a library in Helsinki with toddlars playing/reading area… 1002 In Helsinki there are several libraries that have a special children’s department, for example Pasila, Kallio, Töölö, Rikhardinkatu, Itäkeskus and Vuosaari libraries. Children’s departments have a large collection of fairytales and picture books in several languages as well as some toys and puzzles. Also smaller libraries without children’s department have books for children. More information you can find on Helsinki City Library’s web page www.lib.hel.fi (choose In English to get the English page).

Not really a question. I am not a professional story reader but I would like to read stories in English for kids and want to organize this in the library. 271 If you are willing to volunteer as a reader to the kids, you have to contact directly the head of the library you are thinking of. You can find the contact information of all HelMet area libraries from here: http://www.helmet.fi/en-US Even if you plan not to organize this WITH a library but just IN a library, you have to contact the head of the library.
