Can you advise me where I might write to find a photo of a Finnish merchant ship of 1939 - CAROLUS, A/B Ohlson SS Co., Helsingfors. For a Canadian book on ships sunk during the war.

You might try contacting the Maritime Museum of Finland. They have an archival collection that includes photos, and even if their collection does not include any pictures of ss Carolus, I am sure they will be able to help you further.
