In 2020 many culture institutions, including libraries and museums, had to close their doors and limit their services for periods of time due to Corona restrictions. Statistics from last year shows when the access to physical collections were limited people turned to digital resources.
Finna.fi, which provides access to digital resources from 400 libraries, museums, and archives through one interface, had 2,9 million visits in 2020. This was an increase of 16 % from the year before. In addition to the Covid-19 measures pushing the users of arts and culture services online, also new digital resources made public in 2020 contributed to the rise of interest in Finna.fi’s services.
