Luvia´s library was designed to have as airy interiors as possible.
The old library was in a two-storey wooden house but despite all the coziness it became too cramped and impractical.
The new library is situated next to an old farmhouse with a significant cultural history therefore the façade of the library was made of slating batten and was treated with a red ochre paint.
The base of the building is covered with slates. Plenty of natural stones are used in the yard as well.
The maritime traditions of Luvia were utilized in the designing. It can be seen in the shape of the building: with a good imagination you can see a boat with its chimneys, washed ashore.
Durable and natural materials were used as much as possible in the interiors.
The large windows with sun shades open up to the old bay of the sea.
Due to the height of the library, there is also a loft for reading and arts. It can be reached with a lift from the hall.
