I am researching the 1934 wedding in Port Germein , South Australia, of Barbara Strachey, an English woman, to Olaf Hultin, said to be the son of the Professor of classics at Helsingfors University at the time (1934). The couple had sailed to Australia together on the ship 'L'Avenir' he as a sailor and she as a passenger. They were divorced after about 3 years but had a son.
I am wondering what happened to Olaf Hultin and the son but I am particularly seeking a photo of the wedding which received enormous publicity at the time. Sorry that I can't ask in Finnish.

I am sorry to say that we could not find any direct answers to your question. Probably the wedding was not as enormous publicity event in Finland as in Australia.

Some information of the father of Olaf Hultin, Arvid Hultin, we found rather easily - for instance, he was not a professor at classics, but a librarian in the University Library of Helsinki (or National Library of Finland, as it is nowadays called) and in addition a researcher of literature. It might be possible that the National Library might have some archives of their former employees and there might be more information on his descendants. The contact information of the National Library can be found here:

Furthermore, if the Olaf or Roger Hultin immigrated from Finland, you might find some information of them from the Finnish Institute of Migration, for which the contact information can be found here:

We also found out that in 1987 a Finnish genealogist Georg Luther published an article on the beginning of Hultin-family in Genos, the journal of Finnish Genealogical Society (the article can be read in Internet: http://www.genealogia.fi/genos/58/58_62.htm ,but it is in Swedish), so we do know that some genealogical study of Hultins has already been made. The writer himself is not anymore alive, but the Genealogical Society might know, if he had researched also the later generations of the Hultins. Their contact information can be found here:
